PHYSICALS AND ELIGIBILITY
We must verify all students are both physically and academically eligible to play sports before they may be rostered on a team. One tool we use in order to do this is BIG TEAMS. Through this site we are able to keep all physicals and other important documents easily accessible. Physicals must have been completed after April 1st and must show the date of the physical and physicians signature. Approved physicals can be used until August 1 of the following school year. (i.e. a physical dated 5/2/2024 can be used until August 1 2025)

ACADEMICS AND ELIGIBILITY
Academic requirements are set by the SCHSL and can be found on their website at https://schsl.org/archives/8332
INTERSCHOLASTIC APPROVALS
If the student is homeschooled or attends a charter school and wishes to compete with Fort D Athletics, they must be zoned for FDHS and be cleared to participate through Dorchester District 2. To find out if you are zoned for FDHS you can check HERE. If your student is in fact zoned for fort Dorchester High School you will need to take the following next steps:
- ENTER “Homeschool & Charter School (Dorchester, SC)” WHEN CREATING THE STUDENTS BIGTEAMS/PLANETHS ACCOUNT AS THE SCHOOL YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR
- Add Fort Dorchester High School as a secondary school.
- IF YOUR ACCOUNT LREADY SHOWS FORT DORCHESTER IS THE "HOME SCHOOL" YOU CAN SIMPLY SELECT "EDIT (STUDENTS NAME) ACCOUNT" AND ENTER/SELECT "HOME SCHOOL CHARTER SCHOOL (DORCHESTER SC)
- THIS WILL FORCE FDHS INTO THE SECONDARY SCHOOL OPTION
- Complete the newly populated "Athletic Forms" in PlanetHS/BigTeams
- Letter of Intent
- Required Documents
- Once you click "required Forms" select "Upload Documents" for the list of necessary documents to show.
- Have Homeschool Assn/Charter School send the students transcripts directly to DD2 emails listed below.
Once you have completed all of these items, you should expect to receive communication from Jenene Gourdine to follow up with anything needed. Once your student is approved, all form approval is indicated in Big Teams by "Complete" including the Letter of Intent as well as the "Required Forms"
